Meet our interdisciplinary team of experts at the EduMedia Hub – where audiovisual media and science intersect. Learn more about us and our passion for creating innovative educational media.

  • Dr. Jeanine Reutemann

    Lead Edumedia Team

    Jeanine's insatiable curiosity drives her to explore the intersection of science, education, and audiovisual media, which is reflected in her role as the leader of the EduMedia Team at ETH Zurich. With a background in film and animation, education and media studies (her dissertation was about "Science, Film, and Media Design") and quite some project-based experiences in working with various research disciplines, Jeanine brings a wealth of experience to her role.
    Between 2017 and 2019, she worked as a researcher at the Centre for Innovation at Leiden University in the Netherlands where she worked on topics such as VR, AR, responsible innovations, including deepfakes.

    Prior to that, she worked as a junior researcher and teacher at FHNW Basel from 2014 to 2017. Her work has focused on addressing global challenges, inequalities, and sustainability, and she has collaborated with institutions such as research for development (SNF), Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences (SCNAT), University of Zurich, and ETH Zurich, WSL, Oxford University, Ludwig-​Maximillians University Munich, University Osnabrück, WWF/COOP & Southpole Carbon, PRO7/Sat1.

  • Judith Rehmann

    Deputy Leader, Production Management and Design

    As a film scholar with an M.A. in film studies and applied German literature from the University of Zurich, Judith is specialized in the mediation of literature and the aesthetics and politics of visual culture. She is passionate about exploring and explaining complex concepts to others.
    In 2020, Judith started working at ETH in what is now the LET Educational Media Team. Here, she works on production design and management, and serves as a script editor and storyboard artist for videos in higher education. Her film expertise, including its theory, history, and aesthetics, is applied to her work at the intersection of theory and practice. Judith is an avid film enthusiast who spends most of her free time at the cinema, relishing both art-​house masterpieces and mainstream blockbusters. Her passion for films extends beyond the cinema, and she enjoys engaging in discussions and debates about the latest cinematic releases.

  • Estelle Gattlen

    Animator & Illustrator

    Estelle is a 2D animator and illustrator. After graduating from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, she worked as a freelance artist for three years. During that time, she had the opportunity to create videos for informational and educational purposes, which sparked her interest in transforming and translating pedagogical or scientific information into engaging visualizations that are both aesthetically pleasing and cognitively stimulating. This interest led her to join the LET Educational Media Team in early 2022.
    Passionate about storytelling in all its forms, shapes, and sizes, Estelle is a big fan of comics. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, doing embroidery on her balcony while listening to ridiculous French music, and wandering around the city of Zurich, where she lives.

  • Daniela Seiler

    Script Editor & Production Management

    Daniela holds an MSc ETH in Environmental Sciences and has professional experience in innovation, sustainability, coaching and teaching, journalism, and consulting. With her diverse educational background, professional experience, and natural curiosity, she enjoys working with people from various backgrounds and collaborating on inter-​ and transdisciplinary projects. She is particularly interested in the possibilities that new media and technologies offer for connecting people, ideas, and knowledge.
    As an enthusiast of visualization and storytelling, Daniela is a strong advocate of using these techniques in science and science education. She has a passion for great storytelling and engaging art, particularly manga (Japanese comics), animation, music, and games. When she is not working or studying, she can usually be found with a cup of green tea and a book (often her sketchbook), or taking walks in the forest.

  • Carlo Roman Picaso

    Animator, Motion & UI/UX Designer, Illustrator

    Carlo has many interests, but his biggest one is animation. He holds an M.A. in Animation from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and a professional certificate in UX Design from Google. With ten years of work experience as a Motion Designer, he has worked as a freelancer for several companies and later as an employee in broadcasting stations. Throughout his career, Carlo has worked across various mediums, including print and online media. His main task was producing trailers and teasers for television and cinema, and he was responsible for key visuals and the design of in-​house productions.
    Since the end of 2021, he has been a member of the LET Educational Media Team and works as a motion designer and video editor. Carlo is excited to be part of this creative team and to share his knowledge for the benefit of the educational institution. In his free time, Carlo likes gardening and illustration, and when possible, he enjoys drawing and capturing his life in his sketches.

  • Dr. Anton Bolfing

    e-​Accessibility Specialist

    Anton is a digital accessibility and universal design expert with almost 15 years of experience in the field. He is passionate about creating a born-​accessible digital world where everyone has equal access to learning materials and media. At ETH, he works towards making the university more accessible to people with disabilities and those who want to adapt their environment to their needs. Anton has a PhD in cognitive psychology and is interested in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences. Currently, he is fascinated by predictive processing theory. You can learn more about Anton's work on the ETH e-​Accessibility platform.

  • Hannes Oehen

    Animator & Illustrator

    Hannes is a 2D Animator and Illustrator who specializes in design and storytelling. He received his BA in 2D Animation from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, and has since worked as a Motion Designer both in-​house and as a freelancer. As part of the LET Educational Media Team, Hannes works in a variety of roles, including creating project looks, visualizing core concepts in scripts as a Storyboarder, and bringing illustrations to life as an animator. Hannes is a versatile team player who can navigate the complexities of educational media production with ease. When he's not working, he can often be found in a café sketching or playing soccer and table football.

  • Jane Gebel

    Motion & Graphic Designer

    Jane is a graphic designer trained in Zurich with over 10 years of experience in creating static and animated design solutions, such as corporate designs, websites, and key visuals. She studied motion design at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and holds an M.A. in design and art. At the LET Educational Media Team, she contributes with graphics, motion design, and illustration. Jane also teaches "Motion Design with After Effects" at the Zurich School of Design and was an examination expert there for 4 years. In her free time, she enjoys reading crime novels, fine dining, and taking walks in the autumn forest. In addition to her passion for Thai boxing, she finds a cup of black tea to be a great source of energy.

  • Kateryna Makarenko

    Social Media & Smartphone Videography

    Kateryna is a freelance videographer specializing in smartphone cinematography, with experience filming for small and medium sized businesses to improve their social media content. She joined the LET Educational Media Team for an internship, where she hopes to broaden her theoretical knowledge in visualization and storytelling. Before becoming a videographer, she graduated from Kharkiv Pedagogical University and taught private English and Italian lessons. Kateryna is interested in combining her skills in videography and education at the LET Media Hub. In her free time, she enjoys giving dance classes, learning German, hiking in the Swiss mountains, and reading.

  • Alexander De Biasi

    Video Producer & Post-Production Expert

    Alexander graduated in film with a specialization in directing from Lucerne University of Applied Sciences in 2018. With several years of experience in a production company in Liechtenstein, he possesses a broad knowledge of the entire production process, ranging from working on set to expertise in directing and producing. At Edu Media, he fulfills the roles of video producer and post-production specialist.

    Outside of his professional life, Alexander is a passionate film enthusiast with a profound love for technology and science. In the analog world, he takes delight in admiring the beauty of the world while maintaining a childlike sense of wonder. To relax and gather inspiration for his stories and sketches, he enjoys listening to film soundtracks or Neil Diamond while ironing his shirts.

  • Nanuq

    Actor

    Nanuq is a 2.5-​year-old Japanese Spitz who loves to run, play, and ride on stand-​up paddleboards. He also enjoys being cuddled behind his ears.

  • Frida

    Actress

    Frida, a promising young feline, is currently honing her acting skills. Her favorite hobbies include keyboard walking and stealing the spotlight in Zoom meetings. When not performing, she trains her vocals and perfects her chair-​scratching techniques. In her free time, she loves to snuggle up and receive endless amounts of affection.
